- The different types of court and the principles they employ
- The practice and procedure of the courts
- Who the lawyers and judges are and the rules and ethics that bind them
- How the legal system operates with particular regard to; Disputes between parents in private law case, Divorce, Child protection and local authority responsibilities, Adoption, Wardship, Youth offending, Personal protection, Child age assessments
- The role and responsibilities of social workers within the family law system
