Overview

Eating disorders are responsible for more deaths in the UK than any other psychiatric condition. Typically, these are from Bulimia, Anorexia and Binge Eating disorders. Although these disorders are very common, there is limited knowledge amongst non-clinicians about how to recognise and support sufferers. Non-healthcare staff, typically in social care and education, who are working on the front line may be the first point of contact for someone struggling with an eating disorder. These include school nurses, counsellors, teachers, university staff and social care practitioners. This 1-day course will help these front line staff to improve their knowledge in spotting the signs of an eating disorder and putting in place support to help someone overcome this mental illness.
