Paula Thompson-Butler has over 24 years’ experience of direct work with adults within the probation service and adult social care as a qualified social worker.
Since 2015 Paula has combined her love of front-line practice with training social care practitioners. Her enthusiasm and energy for all things related to social care practice enables her to support delegates to understand how legislation applies to everyday practice. Her passion for legally literate and values-based practice is contagious, and her desire to embed this not only enables safe practice but promotes the focus on supporting adults that access services to have as much choice and control as possible over the decisions they need to make about their lives.
Paula was one of the first trainers to support adult social care with the transition to the Care Act (2014) and her expertise on this Act has enable not only outstanding professional practice, and impactful training but to also work as a freelance consultant with many local authorities.
Paula has over eight-years of experience of training around the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and of course no training is complete without a great exploration of strengths-based, person-centred practice.
